My Autobiography

      My name is Chase Lyles and I am from San Jose California. I have lived here my whole life. I live with my mom, dad, and my little brother. My grandparents live in Las Vegas and we visit them frequently.
 
      I have only gardened a little before. The gardening that I have done was pretty fun. Every once in a while I will look in the garden at willow glen elementary. I have a grape vine and apple tree in my backyard. The grapes in my opinion taste better than store bought grapes, I don't know if it is because they are fresh  organic. I am not sure how other plants will grow and germinate. I am exited to learn.

The way that plants and animals sexually reproduce are very similar. In both instances the female and the male provide one gamete that contain genetic materials for the offspring. This is an image of  the male reproductive system, the Stamen. The Stamen produces pollen which in some ways is similar to sperm for animals. This is an image of the female reproductive system known as the carpel or pistil. When some pollen lands on this,  it will create a tube that connects the ovaries to the ovules. Because of this genetic information is able to get from the pollen ad into the ovaries so, this will create an embryo  that will become a seed.

Nathan Marcus Story of the Seed

For the final story of the seed post of this year, I chose to interview Nathan Marcus about his journey throughout Mr Bursch's honors biology class. I wanted to know about some of his important experiences through his story of the seed project. First of all, Nate learned that kale can sort of grow upside down, but not really. Nate was very surprised by how big kale grows as well!  During his time growing the kale in the garden, he learned how  kale and the environment could interact together. Nate still laughs today about how funny his group was and the great jokes they made together while planting the seeds. As Nate reflects back today, he never would imagine how fast kale can grow and how difficult it is to grow a plant upside down. Overall Nate would do this project again because of all the memorable experiences he had during it. i like to play webkinz

Maya's story of the seed I asked Maya about what she thought about this project this is what she had to say. First she learned how much plants play a role in the environment. She was amazed how much she can help the environment by growing plants and taking care of them. She was surprised by how small her plant was compared to everyone else. She thought deep about how some people can completely screw up the ecosystem.
